An Arizona utility worker’s case shouldn’t have been dismissed, a panel of the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals rules. His suit now goes to trial.

Supporting the Workplace Success of Wounded and Injured Service Members

Employment can play a major role in the recovery of wounded and injured service members. To support these brave men and women in their return to civilian life, the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) has launched two employment-related outreach programs for returning service members and their employers—REALifelines and America’s Heroes at Work.

Court Says Vaccine Not to Blame for Autism

In a blow to the movement arguing that vaccines lead to autism, a special court ruled on Thursday against three families seeking compensation from the federal vaccine-injury fund.  Both sides in the debate have been awaiting decisions in these test cases since hearings began in 2007; more than 5,000 similar claims have been filed.

This report by the Vermont Department of Disabilities, Aging and Independent Living reviewed the impact of current financial eligibility rules and other characteristics of the Medicaid for Working People With Disabilities (WPWD) program on eligibility and enrollments, and assessed the degree to which the program promotes employment opportunities and ensures access to health coverage for Vermonters with disabilities. Bill would create commission to study effectiveness of state comp laws

Legislation recently introduced in the U.S. House of Representatives would create a national commission charged with evaluating the effectiveness of state workers’ compensation laws.  Specifically, the National Commission on State Workers’ Compensation Laws Act, H.R. 635, would establish a separate body to evaluate state workers’ comp laws in order to determine whether the regulations provide an adequate, prompt and equitable system of compensation and medical care for injury or death arising in the course of employment.
