Premiere: Bill’s Bill: Advocacy from the Past into the Future

Please SAVE THE DATE of Thursday, October 30th (7-9) for the Premiere Showing of Bill’s Bill: Advocacy from the Past into the Future.

Bill’s Bill, the movie, is the culmination of a two-year project by VSA Arts of Vermont to honor the great courage and hard work it took to make special education a reality in Vermont and to inspire future generations of advocates. It’s a story of real people who are students, parents, legislators and educators presented first by VSA Arts of Vermont as a stage play created by Emily Anderson with theater class participants from Champlain Community Services. The movie contains a 15 minute version of the play plus auxiliary chapters in which people whose courage thirty or fifty years ago is depicted in the play, reflect on their lives and inspire a new generation, in which current students, parents and teachers grapple with today’s challenges, and in which the creative process leading up to Bill’s Bill is revealed. Conversations with the people whose stories make up Bill’s Bill will be part of this VSA Arts of Vermont special event.
