Adult Workforce Council

The RRWIB Adult Workforce Council is chaired by Anna White, Employee Specialist/Recruiter for Rutland Regional Medical Center.  Anna also is the Workforce Readiness Director for the Vermont State SHRM Council. Jason Cable, Regional Vice President for Leddy Group, a human resources services company, is the AWC Co-Chairman.  Both Anna and Jason are well prepared to guide the work of this Council in skill development for adults already in the workforce.

Another role of this Council is to link to the Rutland Region Planning Commission and to the Rutland Economic Development Commission on issues related to community planning, economic development and workforce development.

Priorities for 2011-2012 include the following:

  • We are launching a new program, Three Steps Forward, to work with young women who are currently out of the educational stream, gain the knowledge and skills needed to attain economic independence.  Read more about this program in the section titled Three Steps Forward.
  • We will offer a new training program on Customer Service to support the Tourism and Hospitality Industry in the region.  The training will be offered through Community College of Vermont and will be targeted to front line employees and supervisors.  It will begin in the fall of 2011.
  • We will explore the need for Industrial Maintenance Technicians and Electronics Technicians within the Manufacturing industry, partnering with Rutland Economic Development Corporation and Stafford Technical Center.
  • We will continue to offer the successful Leading from Within program for developing supervisory and leadership skills, through Stafford Technical Center.
  • We will actively support the Career Readiness Certificate Program offered through a collaboration of Vermont Technical College and the Community College of Vermont.
  • We will represent the area of workforce development on the Regional Technology Committee, chaired by Rutland Regional Planning committee.  This committee is charged with developing opportunities to enhance the utilization of broadband capability in Rutland County.
  • Finally, the AWC plays a vital role in reviewing and approving applications for Vermont’s Workforce Education and Training Fund,the WETF.
